Heavenly Thoughts

Researching websites can be fascinating. Some are easy to navigate while others are just plain frustrating, especially when looking for 'contact' details.

Recently I have written to as many Christian schools, organisations and churches as time permits and the one thing which I have found quite overwhelming is the loving invitation to explore the website and connect with that community. Many a time I wanted to read the latest sermon, check out the school's caring motto or examine the list of activities and programs to which a reader is invited, but that just wasn't practical.

However, in looking for the 'contact' details, I was enthralled by the number of people who are committed to the successful functioning of each organisation and that is only for the year 2013.What about previous years or the years ahead? What of all the Christians not represented by a website?

And that prompted me to think of Heaven. How many people will   be there? And there my thoughts came to an abrupt halt, because the more I think of Heaven, the more I cannot comprehend what it will be like. But that doesn't deter me from echoing Job's words "I know that my Redeemer lives" and looking forward to the time when "in my flesh I shall see God".

I have always loved telling Bible stories, especially those from the Old Testament. For the past 25 years I have been teaching Religious Education in the local State School.  Each time I revisit these stories, I still find there's something more for me to learn. That's what I find so refreshing about the bible.
